A MAN has been given a football banning order after running on the pitch at an AFC Bournemouth game.

Sam Green, 25, ran on the pitch when Leicester played Bournemouth at Vitality Stadium on February 27.

He appeared at Poole Magistrates’ Court on April 29, having admitted a charge of going onto the playing area at a football match under the Football (Offences) Act 1991.

Green was conditionally discharged for a period of 12 months, and handed a three year long football banning order.

The order means that, in any regulated football match in which the England national team or Leicester City play, other than at the King Power Stadium, the defendant must not go to the relevant town or city four hours either side of kick off.

In matches at the King Power Stadium, Green must not enter a specified exclusion zone around the ground four hours either side of kick off.

Green, of Greenacres Drive in Lutterworth, must notify authorities of any change of his home address during the period of the ban.

The defendant was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £26 and costs of £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.
